PFK, O/S, Mono Logo: Decoding the Range Names

Scroll the hoodie listings for a minute or two and the product titles start reading like a parts catalogue — O/S Emblem Emboss, Mono Logo Jacquard, 13YR PFK, Handstyle Graphite/Pale Blue — and if you’ve never bought from the label before it’s honestly hard to work out which part of that is the cut, which part is the graphic, and which part is just telling you the colours. None of it is random, though. Once you know what the recurring words are pointing at, you can read a title straight off the Geedup Australia hoodie page and have a fair idea what’s arriving before you’ve even opened the photos.

What a product title is actually made of

Most titles on the site are built from two or three pieces stacked together, and they tend to run in the same order, which is more or less the whole secret. First comes the range or the graphic — Handstyle, PFK, Cursive Logo, Dobermann, that sort of thing. Then, if the piece has a fit marker, that gets stuck on (usually at the front, confusingly enough). And last comes the colourway, written with a slash when there are two colours in play, so “Handstyle Graphite/Pale Blue” is nothing more complicated than one graphic in one pair of colours, cut the way that range is normally cut.

PFK is the one that turns up everywhere

PFK is Play For Keeps shortened down, and it’s the phrase you’ll run into most across the catalogue — there’s a whole menu section called Geedup Play For Keeps sitting alongside the Hoodie and Tracksuit categories, which tells you something about how much of the range leans on it. On hoodies alone it shows up as 13YR PFK, 15YR PFK, PFK 2.0, PFK Company, PFK Company Ice Blue, PFK Black/Orange and PFK Blue/White, which is a lot of PFK to be getting on with.

The words bolted onto it — Company, 2.0, Laced — are versions of that same idea rather than separate ranges, so a PFK Company hoodie and a PFK 2.0 hoodie are cousins rather than strangers, and if you only bother learning one abbreviation on the whole site then this is probably the one worth the effort. The set versions live over on the Geedup Tracksuit Australia listings, where Core PFK and PFK Laced both turn up, the second of those as one of the kids sets.

O/S means oversized, and nothing else

O/S is probably the simplest marker on the site, since it just means oversized, and when it turns up you’re looking at a roomier cut of a graphic that normally exists in the regular shape as well — O/S Emblem Emboss and O/S G are both in the hoodie range at the moment, and there’s an OS G among the kids sets too.

Mono Logo comes in two builds

The two priciest hoodies in the range are Mono Logo Tape and Mono Logo Jacquard, and the difference between them is sitting right there in the names once you know what the two words mean, since tape points at a woven strip carrying the monogram — the sort of applied trim that runs down a sleeve or across a chest — while jacquard means the pattern has been woven into the cloth itself rather than printed or stuck on over the top.

Four names that only describe the logo

Handstyle, Cursive Logo, Team Logo and Emblem Emboss get mixed up more than anything else on the site, mostly because all four are describing how the mark itself is drawn or applied rather than naming a theme.

  • Handstyle is the biggest family of the four and the one you’ll meet first, running across Black/Burnt Orange, Black/White, Blue, Green/White and Graphite/Pale Blue, with a Handstyle/G version and a kids’ set as well.
  • Cursive Logo is the joined-up handwritten version of the wordmark rather than the blockier lettering used elsewhere.
  • Emblem Emboss describes a raised mark instead of a flat printed one, which is presumably why it tends to be paired with the O/S cut on the listings.
  • Team Logo reads like a sports crest and shows up on the kids tracksuit sets, alongside Cities and the rest of them.

The named pieces: Cities, Dobermann, Ol’ English, G Sportsman Fleece

Then there are a handful of names that aren’t abbreviations or treatments at all — they’re just names given to a particular piece, and you can’t reason your way to them. Cities is a kids tracksuit set, Dobermann Washed Black is a hoodie, and that “Washed Black” half is a finish description rather than a second range, so there’s no point hunting for a Washed Black line, because it doesn’t exist. Ol’ English points at a lettering style, and its oversized version — titled Ol’ English Oversized, with the word spelled out rather than abbreviated — sits at the top of the hoodie pricing. G Sportsman Fleece, meanwhile, is doing two jobs in one title, pairing the standalone G mark that also appears in O/S G and Handstyle/G with a plain description of the garment, much the way GDUP shortens the brand name itself on the GDUP Tracksuit.

13YR and 15YR are year markers

These two number codes are the quickest to decode and also the ones people guess wrongly, because at a glance they look a bit like sizes, which they definitely aren’t. They mark anniversary pieces, and both of the ones currently sitting in the hoodie range happen to be built on PFK, as 13YR PFK and 15YR PFK. If you’re after something a bit further back rather than the current graphics, those are the titles worth searching for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PFK a different brand from Geedup?

No — Play For Keeps is a range name within the catalogue, and PFK is simply how it gets written on product titles and tags, with a menu section of its own mostly because so many pieces carry it rather than because it’s anything separate.

Does O/S mean I should order a smaller size?

O/S tells you the cut is roomier, which is a fit question rather than a sizing one, and the two do get tangled together more often than they should, so the size options on each product page are the place to settle it.

What’s the difference between Mono Logo Tape and Mono Logo Jacquard?

Both of them carry the same monogram and both sit at the top of the hoodie range, so really it comes down to construction, in that tape suggests applied woven trim while jacquard suggests the pattern is woven into the cloth.

Spend five minutes with the naming system and the whole catalogue gets a fair bit easier to shop, because you stop clicking into pieces to find out what they are and start searching for the words you already know you want. Pick the graphic family you like the look of, decide whether you want the oversized version of it, then let the colourway be the last call rather than the first one. The listings will make a good deal more sense on your second visit than they did on your first.
