Molly Noblitt and Aubreigh Wyatt
Aubreigh Wyatt was a 13-year-old eighth-grade student from Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She died by suicide on 4 September 2023, and her death led to widespread grief and discussion online.
Aubreigh’s mother said her daughter had experienced persistent bullying and alleged that at least four girls had been involved. She did not initially publicly identify the girls by name.
Internet users subsequently attempted to identify the students themselves. Molly Noblitt was among the names circulated online, which resulted in enormous attention being directed toward her across social media platforms.
The Online Bullying Allegations
Claims about bullying became central to online conversations following Aubreigh’s death. Aubreigh’s mother maintained that bullying had seriously affected her daughter before the tragedy.
Social media users began investigating the situation independently and sharing names they believed belonged to the students involved. Molly’s name became associated with those allegations through this online discussion.
It is important to distinguish those allegations from established findings. The information provided for this biography does not establish that Molly was criminally responsible for Aubreigh’s death or that she received a criminal conviction.
The Legal Dispute Following Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death
The controversy eventually developed into a legal dispute. Parents of four girls accused online of bullying Aubreigh filed a defamation and slander lawsuit against Aubreigh’s mother on 2 July 2024.
During the proceedings, a judge ordered Aubreigh’s mother to shut down her social media accounts. The dispute attracted further public attention because her online posts had played a major role in spreading awareness of Aubreigh’s story.
The parents withdrew the lawsuit on 16 July 2024. Following the withdrawal, the restriction affecting Aubreigh’s mother’s social media activity was lifted, while public discussion surrounding the case continued online.
